FUN SHADE PARK

LE2025-017-L&E-2025-10-02 Page 006_edite

Located along the High Line Canal and centrally positioned within the Solstice community, Fun Shade Park serves as a vibrant hub for play and gathering for all ages. Designed as an energetic counterpart to the surrounding open space network, the park brings together a diverse mix of play towers, climbing boulders, sculptural elements, open turf areas, and winding pathways that seamlessly connect each feature. Its proximity to the canal enhances the experience, tying the park into a broader recreational corridor while reinforcing its role as a key community destination.

As with other projects within Solstice, Fun Shade Park underwent the Douglas County Site Improvement Plan (SIP) process, requiring careful coordination of grading, drainage, accessibility, and infrastructure. The design team worked closely with county staff to ensure compliance with regulatory standards while preserving the park’s creative vision. Through this process, key elements such as play area placement, stormwater management strategies, and pedestrian connectivity were refined to align with both county requirements and long-term maintenance goals—resulting in a park that is not only playful and visually distinctive, but also thoughtfully integrated into the larger community framework.
