LYRIC PARK AT RIDGEGATE
DOUGLAS COUNTY, COLORADO
12 ACRES +/-

CLIENT: Shea Homes
COLLABORATORS: JR Engineering, Avocet Irrigation
STATUS: In Progress

As the central park within the Lyric community, Lyric Park was envisioned as a vibrant, multi-faceted destination that supports a wide range of user experiences and levels of activity. The park features a basketball court, bocce ball court, pump track, small and large playgrounds, expansive open lawn areas, and a generous plaza designed for community gathering. The plaza is anchored by large shade structures and complemented by extensive seating, creating a comfortable and flexible environment for both programmed events and everyday use.

The planting design is intentionally organized around the park’s primary programmatic elements, reinforcing each space while strengthening the overall spatial framework. Planting masses are used to define edges, soften transitions, and create a cohesive rhythm as users move through the site. Around active recreation areas, planting is durable and structured, providing visual containment without compromising visibility or safety. In contrast, more immersive and layered planting palettes are introduced near gathering spaces and passive zones, enhancing comfort, seasonal interest, and a stronger connection to nature.

Motif sculptural elements and site furnishings further unify the park’s identity, establishing a consistent design language throughout. Together, these elements guide visitors through a dynamic sequence of experiences, allowing them to engage with the landscape both actively and passively while reinforcing Lyric Park as a memorable and defining feature of the community.
