Landmark Academy is a private charter school located northeast of Denver, thoughtfully designed to balance educational functionality with a strong sense of place. Faced with the dual challenges of a strict budget and an accelerated timeline, Sage Design Group approached the project with a focus on efficiency, creativity, and long-term sustainability.

The design draws inspiration from the surrounding prairie landscape, embracing a naturalistic aesthetic that reflects the character of the region. Through the strategic use of native grasses and xeric plantings, the site was shaped into a low-water-use environment that is both environmentally responsible and visually cohesive. These planting strategies not only reduce maintenance demands but also provide seasonal variation and educational value for students.

Programmatic elements were carefully integrated to support a wide range of student activities while maintaining the integrity of the overall design vision. The campus includes a soccer field, engaging playgrounds, and flexible, unstructured play areas that encourage exploration, creativity, and social interaction. Each component was intentionally placed to maximize usability, durability, and connectivity across the site, resulting in a cohesive outdoor environment that enhances both learning and play.
